Granville
Granville- Clyde is an established residential area, with industrial areas in the north. Granville – Clyde is bounded by A’Beckett Creek in the north, the Duck River in the east, generally by Redfern Street, Lisgar Street, Stuart Street, Meadows Street, Woodville Road, John Street, Brady Street, Carhullen Street and William Street in the south and the railway line in the west.
Part of the suburb of Granville is located in Holroyd City. Granville is named after Lord Granville, British statesman. It was previously known as Parramatta Junction. Settlement of the area dates from the early 1800s. Population was minimal until the 1860s, with land used mainly for orcharding. Residential growth took place from the 1880s into the early 1900s, accompanied by industrial growth. The most significant development occurred during the post-war years, aided by the establishment of public housing estates.
The population has increased slightly since the early 1990s, a result of new dwellings being added to the area. Major features of the area include Granville Shopping Centre, Granville Showground, Parramatta City Raceway, TAFE NSW South Western Sydney Institute (Granville College) and a number of schools
